Activity Information Monitor Measurements and Process Assets
DescriptionVisual Studio 2005 Team System collects measurement data for all standards in the Organization Measurement Server. If modifications have been made to the standard measurement reports, then special attention is required to collect and store the measurement data. Process Assets are kept in source control. Any modification to the process assets is done according to source control processes. StepsPopulate Organization Measurement Server:
Measurement data for all standard Visual Studio 2005 Team System measurements is automatically collected and stored in the Organization Measurement Server. As work is performed in Team System, all standard processes automatically collect and store data. Properly implemented modifications and additions to the standard Team System measurement reports should also automatically collect and store data. Verify that the automated collection, storage, and reporting is taking place.
If non-automated collection has been specified for a measurement, execute the Project Data Management Plan to collect, store, and report the data. Populate Organization Process Asset Library:
Process assets include all process definitions, tailoring criteria and guidelines, templates, and example documentation. The bulk of these assets are populated when the process template is selected or modified during the installation of Visual Studio 2005 Team System; therefore no additional action is required.
While Team System includes examples of completed templates, the examples derived from actual project experience should be identified for use in the Organization Process Asset Library. Evaluate project documentation to find the best examples for each document type. Criteria for selecting these examples could include: adherence to templates, adherence to overall process, positive feedback from project retrospectives, and overall project success. Maintain Process Asset Library Catalog:
Visual Studio 2005 Team System automatically maintains the Organization Process Asset Library Catalog, with the exception of managing the customer-identified document examples and templates. Add and/or update example and template documents that complete the catalog. Periodically review the project documents that have been identified as examples or template in the Organization Process Asset Library. Remove the obsolete examples and templates as better examples or templates are identified.
