Activity Information Establish Project Team Charter
DescriptionA project team charter is like a contract between team members. It defines the level of service, performance, or professionalism that they expect of each other and are prepared to commit to. StepsEstablish Norms:
Norms are rules of working engagement that the team agrees to abide by.
For example, in meetings, practice active listening and listen to understand.
The daily meeting will be held at 9.30am (for example) and everyone will make a best effort to attend daily.
All ideas should be given a hearing and aired for discussion. Establish Expected Performance Measures:
Based on the metrics available and the project reports, establish acceptable levels of performance for velocity, work item lead time, and quality. Each metric should have a mid-point and range of variation, or a low water mark that is the minimum acceptable and a stretch goal. List Critical Success Factors:
List factors that are critical to project success. These are often called critical to quality (CTQ) factors. Quality is defined by the customer and delivery of what the customer expects in terms of scenarios and qualities of service remains the best definition of critical to quality.
At this stage in the project, CTQ's should be reflected in the outlined end-to-end scenarios. Get Commitment to the Process:
Get a consensus on the project process to be followed and commitment to honor it.
