Create Build Script

Description

The build script must then be generated and modified appropriately. The project must be configured appropriately to target the production server. The base build script can then be generated. Modifications will need to be made to deal with the specifics of your environment. These modifications are to include things like data motion support.

Steps

  1. Set the Appropriate Build Target Connection and Related Build Properties:

    Configure the database project settings appropriately to specify the target connection and associated build properties.
  2. Build Database Project:

    Build the database project.

    Review and fix any build errors identified. The type of build errors mentioned here are environmental errors.
  3. Modify Build Script:

    Review the build script to ensure it performs the actions you expected in order to synchronize the source project with the target.

    If data motion must occur, modify the build script to appropriately incorporate data motion. While the default build script will not result in data loss, it will not appropriate migrate data when necessary.
