How to: Create a Bug List

Description

A bug list is useful for triaging bug reports. Using Visual Studio Team System, the project manager (or a lead) can create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet containing a list of active bug work items. The list can then be posted to the project portal for the entire team to view and work with.

Procedures:

  • To create a bug list
    1. On the Visual Studio Team menu, click Team Explorer.
    2. In Team Explorer, expand your team project folder, then the Work Items folder, and the Project Queries folder.
    3. Right-click the Active Bugs query, and choose Open in Microsoft Excel.
    4. After you create the bug list, you should save it to the project portal under the Test folder. As bugs are updated, you can refresh the list when it is opened in Microsoft Excel.
