The release manager advocates for the Release Operations constituency in the MSF Team Model. This release manager's goal is to manage the rollout of the product. The release manager coordinates the release with operations or media control. They create a rollout plan and certify release candidates for shipment or deployment. A person assigned to this role should be added to the Project Administrator permissions group. This allows them to do all that they need to perform their function, such as create new projects, add people to the project team, and start a team build.
